My Life Journey
“Rooted in intuition and lived experience, These works express a deep personal visual language that developed organically over time”
Somewhere out there, Oils - 24 X 36 1987 - shortly after I came to the US, painting this emerged from a time of loneliness. A solitary figure sits in a desert landscape, while a window in the sky holds a view from my bedroom, an image of waiting, memory, and becoming.
In between, Oils - 24 X 36 1987- Between oceans and desert, a face unfolds in quiet layers. A man and a woman meet within the form, connected though apart. One side open to the sky, the other holds shadow - suggesting distance, longing, and the invisible thread of shared breath.
The last one, Oils - 24 X 36 1987 - This painting holds a moment when didn't know what to do. It is about being lost and the courage to reach for help.
Forgiveness, Oils - 24 X 36 1988 - From two lives, roots grow into a single tree heavy shared sorrow. Within it are my parents' eyes, watching from where I come from. This painting is my asking for forgiveness, held with love.
Girihandu seya - Sri Lanka Watercolor - 7 X 18 2000 - This painting was born from an experience Thiriyaya, Sri Lanka, traditionally dated to 543 BCE. Standing among its ruins, I felt a presence unlike any I have known. A neem tree there, known for bitterness,, tasted sweet. I do not explain this - I honor it. This work carries that feeling of silence devotion, and mystery.
The Journey Oils - 24 X 36 Began in 2008 during a time of uncertainty, this painting was first shaped with the help of my son, Dilan. This rising structure became metaphor for a mother's path one marked by struggle, and the quiet determination to lift her children forward. years later, as both my sons found their way and became the human beings I had hoped they would be, the journey was completed in 2026. They now stand on their own pedestals. The white dove, a symbol of peace release and a mother's freedom in knowing her work is done.
Life is an illusion, Oils - 30 X 40 2011 - Created during a time in years felt impossible. The window in the sky dream of freedom. A Hope that Existed long before it became real.
Letting go, 30 X 40 - Oils 2015 - This painting was born from a mother's heart. learning the hardest love to hold, and then to release. With blessings instead of fear, I let my child walk his own path, under the same moon and stars that once watched him rest in my arms.
A Gentle Man's Horizon - Thaththa (Dad) Oils - 8 X10
Hatred can only be appeased by LOVE Oils - 30 X 40 In a world divided by conflict, this painting reflects quiet truth that violence destroys everything cities, nature, families, and the future of humanity itself.
